Sir,

I was filled with sorrow and then anger when I visited the Garden of Remembrance at St. Mary’s Church, Tenby on Saturday. All the plants had been removed from the flower borders. Rose bushes planted in memory of loved ones, including mine from 24 years ago, all gone.

To me and others it almost feels like an act of desecration. No doubt the church has its reasons for this action, but surely it would have been more respectful to have given some sort of advance warning, in your newspaper perhaps or even a notice up in the garden itself, to let people know of the intention. At least we may have been able to retrieve the plants or taken cutting maybe.

An insensitive move by the church and bad timing prior to Mothering Sunday.
