People living and visiting the coastal town of Tenby know they can ‘breathe easy’ on their next ‘staycation’ thanks to a new survey revealing the top UK getaway destinations that are full of clean air.

Last year, research by the ‘World Health Organisation’ revealed 44 out of 511 British towns and cities were pollution hotspots.

Air in these places is considered too dangerous to breathe and air pollution in the UK is now a public health emergency.

Recently the BBC aired a programme called ‘Fighting for Air’ which looked at pollution and how it affects your health, and as a result, Snaptrip.com put together a list of the best UK staycation destinations, that have clean air, to make it easier for those looking to escape areas with bad air quality with Tenby featured in the top five.

“Tenby is one of Wales’ prettiest and most colourful harbour towns - it has stretches of sandy shoreline that you can stroll across,” stated a spokesperson for Snaptrip.com

Other areas to make the list alongside Tenby are - Windermere in Cumbria, Bude in North Cornwall, Whitby in North Yorkshire, and Bideford in North Devon.
