An entertainment venue in Tenby is set to enjoy a series of ‘Happy Days’ when it hosts rehearsals for a new show this year.

Wannabe ‘Fonzies’ and ‘Chachis’ will be on board for a planned production based on the 1950s set ‘Happy Days’ TV show to be to be staged at the De Valence Pavilion.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that she was ‘excited’ to announce that the De Valence Pavilion would soon be hosting rehearsals for an ‘innovative drama group’ who were putting on the musical based around the Amercan series.

“The De Valence’s secretary Dave Jones has got together with a group of friends, who specialise in dancing, acting etc, to form a company to put on this show,” she said.

“It’s all voluntary, and the show will be put on at the end of June, and we’re hoping it will be a big success.”

Clr. Mrs. Brown said that the venue would not be taking any bookings from mid February ’til the end of March, as lighting and ceiling refurbishment work is due to take place at the building which is located in Upper Frog Street.

“Rather than work around the events, we won’t be having any for a period, so the last event scheduled will be a bands night on Friday, February 17, in aid of the Amnesty organisation,” she continued.

“We are also working with the town’s primary schools and Greenhill School to plan for a ‘transition concert’ to take place in April,” added Clr. Mrs. Brown.

The Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Laurence Blackhall, said that the fact that ‘live theatre’ was to be brought back to the De Valence, was a tribute to everyone involved at the venue.
