It was the culmination of two years of hard work by the management committee and support from local businesses which enabled Whitland Memorial Hall to celebrate its Opening Day last Friday.
Mr. John Llewellyn, chairman of the Whitland Memorial Hall management committee, thanked everyone who had been involved in the project which had been initiated after a decision over two years ago to overview the structure of the building since its opening in February 1928.
The deterioration of the building had been greater than envisaged and considerable funding had to be sought.
Funding for the project had come from CWM Community and Environmental Fund, Awards for All Wales, Carmarthenshire County Council Collaboration Fund and rural Development Plan Axixs 3.
Mr. Llewellyn welcomed the Hon. Robin Lewis OBE, and chairman of Magstim, who unveiled the commemorative plaque.
