A group of friends, Marian Lewis, Ruth Jones, Edith Williamson and Jayne King recently enjoyed a wonderful tour of Turkey taking in the sights of Istanbul, Ankara and Cappadocia with its mystical landscape, rock formations and fairy chimneys.
It was then onto Konya to visit a Caravanserai, an ancient silk road bartification built in 1229, which is now in the municipality of Sultamhami.
Whilst visiting they were delighted to be introduced to the city mayor, Mr Fahri Solak, who invited the little tour group of six to take Turkish coffee at his city mayor’s office.
A very pleasant and informative visit ended with the mayor generously presenting each person with a boxed set of Turkish coffee cups.
The tour of this fascinating country continued with the group visiting Pamukkale, Ephesus and Troy the legendary city from the llaid of Homer.
Finally, the group crossed the sea of Marmara and back to Istanbul for the flight home.
Another successful adventure completed to add to the previous tours of Peru, Jordan and Argentina.
