On Saturday, September 29 we have the return of the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning combined with Tenby Library’s Grand Book Sale in the Hall at 10 am until 12 noon.
Proceeds from the coffee morning go to Macmillan Cancer Support and proceeds from the book sale go to Pembrokeshire Libraries book-buying fund, so you could enjoy yourself with a coffee, a cake and a book at bargain prices and support two good causes.
We have a large stock of withdrawn library books from all over the county available for the sale, so hopefully everyone will find something appealing.
On the same day, at 11am, we are also hosting an Arts Festival event: Yoriko Omae is holding a Japanese calligraphy workshop for children of all ages, telling Japanese folk stories and bringing costumes to try out. Yoriko has hosted similar events for the Library, and they have always been very enjoyable.
The workshop is advertised as being in the Hall, but in fact will be in the Youth Club which is reached through the Hall. This event is free, but booking is essential as there are a limited number of places.
Earlier in the week the Future Shorts film event is back in Tenby on Thursday, September 27 at 7pm.
The Future Shorts Festival is a collection of short films, brought together from all over the world; individual films range from about 5 to 25 minutes long and are put together in a 90 minute programme.
The Future Shorts event in Tenby is hosted by Rooms with a View, who also organise the pop-up cinema events in Tenby and Films4Tenby at the De Valence Pavilion.
On Thursday, September 27 the Library doors will open at 6.30 pm for a 7 pm start and entrance is £5 on the door. Refreshments are available and any donations are gratefully received.
At the end of the event, vote for your favourite film; votes are counted from viewers all over the world, and the winning film-maker receives a small financial prize.
We are told that this will be the last Future Shorts film event, so if you have been considering coming before, this may be your last chance.
The event is not suitable for people under 15, as some films may contain infrequent strong language, dangerous behaviour and moderate sex references.
For more information and booking, please call Tenby Library on 01437 775151 or 01834 843934 or email [email protected].
