Ysgol Y Preseli has recently been holding fund-raisers to help raise money for the school rugby and hockey teams who are spending two weeks in South Africa in July. They will be representing the school and playing against local teams in South Africa.

A recent fund-raiser was held by packing bags for customers in Marks and Spencers, Carmarthen. Mrs. Faith Wright from Barclays Bank had arranged the event which saw a grand total of £1,386 being realised. Barclays Bank matched this with £750 under the community matched funding project.

Mrs. Wright said: "At Barclays, we're really proud of our leading community investment programme which added up to £52.4 million last year. Over the last five years Barclays people have raised over £60 million for their favourite charities with our help and matched fund-raising."

The youngsters and school are very grateful for Barclays' help and said that the funds raised will help the school to continue giving pupils the chance to get the maximum out of their education and learning about other countries' way of living.
