A framed letter of thanks, signed by the chairman of the Royal National Lifeboat institution, Admiral Sir Wilfrid Woods, is being sent to coxwain Charles Ivor Crockford and the crew of the Tenby lifeboat.

In the letter special reference s being made to the efforts made by the second coxwain Joshua Richards and crew members John John and Michael Crockford after a boy had fallen over the cliff at Manorbier on the evening of May 21.

The three men took the lifeboat boarding boat into a gully with a narrow entrance and with heavy surf running.

Their first attempt to recover the body of the boy failed and they had to make a second attempt after the tide had fallen.

Second coxwain Joshua Richards was in command of the boarding boat and at the second attempt crew member John John went over the side with a line.

He secured this around the body of the boy and the lifeboat brought ashore.

A police constable told Tenby magistrates of a crowd of 100 people involved in a melee on Upper Frog Street, when several fights were in progress.

Greenhill Secondary School staged ‘Emil and the Detectives’ - with the cast bringing to the production all the ‘enthusiasm, sense of enjoyment and participation’ which is so much a part of the make up of the children.

The annual Summer fete of Holyrood and St Teilo Roman Catholic Church was held in the church grounds. The sum of £289 was raised towards parish funds.

Large crowds attended the 12th annual carnival and sports day at Kilgetty. Many assembled at the station yard to see Dr. Kirton crown the carnival queen Miss Sandra Phillips, and the attendants. The Mary Immaculate Band of Haverfordwest led the carnival procession.
