WONDERLAND: A Dancer’s Tale, this year’s summer production by Pembroke Dock-based Kelly Williams School of Dance, is staging at the Torch Theatre on Saturday, June 27.
Rehearsals are now in full swing with only weeks to go until the show.
Expect a classic tale with a dancer’s twist, as movement and magic tell the tale, where street meets story in Wonderland.
See these talented young local street dancers on stage at Milford Haven at one of two performances on the day: at 2pm or 6pm.
Kelly Williams says: “Wonderland- a dancers tale, is a story about a dancers journey through training. The story looks at the highs and lows of dance training, focusing on the times of low self confidence, comparison & self doubt.
“It is a story of self discovery, finding who you are as a dancer & remembering that exactly who you are is enough. Told through the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland- where the magic of Wonderland and the weird and Wonderful characters Alice meets along the way, will help her to find herself.
“Audiences will be taken on Alices journey through Wonderland with an array of dance styles on display. From hard hitting hip-hop to elegant lyrical, freestyle, house, litefeet, locking, dance hall, popping and more, this show is going to be full of fun-high energy moments as well as moving story telling.
“We are so excited to bring this production to stage and we hope that the people of Pembrokeshire will get behind this small but talented cast of 34 dancers.”
The age range of the cast is from 7 years- 30 years, and each performer regardless of age brings something special to the stage.
“As a school we love to do things outside of box so the audience never know what to expect,” Kelly adds, “and this year is no exception.”
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased via the Torch Theatre website.
Classes are available in Pembroke Dock, New Hedges and St Davids. For information on classes at KWSOD you can contact Kelly on 07880 625360 @kellywilliamsschoolofdance .
