Would you like to compete at the Llŷn and Eifionydd National Eisteddfod in Boduan in August this year? Well, a quiz at the Torch Theatre could take you there!

If you decide to take part in Menter Iaith Sir Benfro’s quiz, and you win, you’ll be able to get a free ticket to the Eisteddfod and represent your county.

The quiz will be held on Thursday July 13 at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven with the hardworking team of Menter Iaith Sir Benfro at the helm. Quiz masters for the evening are Rhidian Evans from Menter Iaith Sir Benfro and Tomos Hopkins from Learn Welsh Pembrokeshire, and according to staff members, there will be a lot of hwyl in a relaxed atmosphere.

Rhidian Evans, from Menter Iaith Sir Benfro, said:Last year, we hosted the quiz for the first time at Narberth Rugby Club with the winning team competing on the first Saturday of the Eisteddfod in Maes D (Welsh learners) at the Tregaron Eisteddfod. A fun evening was had with teams competing in the bilingual quiz suitable for everyone.''

The aim is that each County across Wales holds a quiz with the questions being generic and a number of questions about the local area included within each area. Mentrau Iaith Cymru is working together with the National Centre for Learning Welsh to mark the event and the final competition when the quiz is held in a colorful marquee on the Eisteddfod site.

Rhidian added: "Menter Iaith Sir Benfro decided on a different location this year and the reason for that is that a number of Welsh learners live in the Torch Theatre and Milford Haven areas. We wanted to support the Torch as we have collaborated with them in the past and are very pleased that there’s a lot of interest with Welsh speakers, Welsh learners, and those who support the Coffi Cymraeg monthly sessions at the Torch."

The final of the quiz will be held on August 5 at the site of the National Eisteddfod.
