Neyland’s mistress of mystery, Sarah Waters OBE, will be talking to her former teacher Mr Tanguay about her sizzling books and the road to best-selling writing, at Llangwm’s cherished literary festival, August 8-10.
Since leaving Milford Haven Grammar School, Sarah has won many awards. “Sarah is an amazing role model for anyone wanting to become a writer,” says festival director Michael Pugh.
The Cleddau village will also welcome musicians Boo Hewerdine and Yvonne Lyon. Boo is launching his new album Things Found in Books and at the Galilee Chapel concert on August 8 he’ll be encouraging audience members to share things they’ve found in books .
Local is always a theme at Llangwm with Nicola Davies coming from Solva to talk about wildlife and whales in a poetic session for all the family, Julia Horton-Mansfield doing foraging on the Cleddau, and John Roach doing a children’s event on his brilliant Red Dragon book.
Llangwm legend David wilson will be launching his autobiography ‘An Unlikely Photographer,’ a story from total paralysis at age 18 to becoming a renowned photographer, and the inestimable joy of family life. Angela John will talk about her gripping new biography on Philip Burton. Angela has unique insights into the relationship between Philip Burton and Richard Burton, and was an advisor on the film, Mr Burton.
Colin Thubron, doyen of British travel writing, will be taking visitors on mental journeys through the cultural wealth of Russia and Central Asia, while writer Ben Aitken will share his humorous take on some of Britain’s unsung cities. Ben will also talk about Gran Tour, a hilarious insight into his experience of intergenerational living.
