NARBERTH bookshop Chapter One loves Welsh writing and this week the museum-based bookshop is celebrating both new and old writing by Welsh writers.

Author and bookseller Jeff Towns, also known as ‘The Dylan Thomas Guy’ is at Chapter One on Friday, November 21 to discuss his new book The Wilder Shores of Dylan Thomas, a collection of 18 essays on Dylan Thomas revealing little known details of the Welsh writer’s life and work.

Jeff Towns’ previous books include The Two Dylans which looks at the shared passions and connections that tie Bob Dylan and Dylan Thomas together. Jeff is one of the world’s leading Dylan Thomas experts and is known affectionately and professionally as’The Dylan Thomas Guy’ because of his wealth of knowledge.

The event is from 6pm to 8pm at Chapter One and Jeff will be signing books after the talk in the bookshop. Tickets are £5 and the price includes a 10 per cent discount on Jeff’s new book.

And if you’re feeling inspired by Dylan’s work (either one!) then perhaps Chapter One’s poetry contest will interest you.

To celebrate the centenary of the great Welsh actor, Richard Burton, Chapter One is inviting poets, budding or experienced, to submit a poem celebrating a great Welsh hero of their choice.

Author Mark Lewis is the judge and entrants will be invited to read the poem or have their poem read at Chapter One’s Christmas Book Bar on Thursday, December 11.

Chapter One is a friendly, volunteer-run independent bookshop based at Narberth Museum. The bookshop stocks new and secondhand books. There is also a cosy café. The bookshop hosts events from author talks and workshops to book bars and paperback breakfasts.
