Over twenty adults of different ages were keen to discover their Maths and English GCSE results last Thursday (August 22).

As usual, there were some unexpected successes - Mr. Hwyel Watkins, recently retired, was delighted to learn he had gained an A* at Higher Level Mathematics.

Likewise, Elinor Page was very pleased to learn she gained an A in English Language. It was Elinor’s second attempt at two GCSEs with Learning Pembrokeshire and this year she gained both Maths and English at grade C and above. Elinor is proof that commitment and perseverance pay off. Never say never!

Many other learners gained the grades they needed to achieve their career goals and other aims, even whilst holding down full time jobs or having a baby!

Congratulation go to all learners who attended class last year and worked so hard. Commiseration must also go to those who didn’t achieve the grades they wanted this year.

However they can look to Elinor’s success this time round, to know that with continued hard work and growing confidence, success is possible.

Thanks must go to inspiring tutors John Powell and Jo Kelleher, who are keen to get started again in early September.
