It was a nervous morning for many pupils across Pembrokeshire on Thursday as they made their way to schools to collect GCSE results, with Tenby’s Greenhill School students up bright and early to pick up theirs.
“Following on from our very successful A Level results last week, it has been a real pleasure to be in school this morning to see Year 11 pupils opening their GCSE envelopes and sharing that experience with them,” commented Tenby Greenhill School headmaster Mr. Raymond McGovern, MA. FInstLM.
“As always there are those who have tears of joy and some of disappointment but the atmosphere throughout the morning has been one of positive anticipation.
“Almost every student has achieved the qualifications they require to progress on to their next step of education and of course we will be working with all the pupils to make sure they can access a course or training to support them as they move on.
“It may go without saying that we are all very proud of what pupils have achieved but we say it all the same and congratulate them on their hard work and success.
“Particularly note worthy are the achievements of Jessica Hillier with 12 A*s and 1 A; Katie Nicholls with 10 A*s, 2 As and 1 B; Josie Dodd with 9 A*s, and 1 A; and Noah Yeates with 8 A* and 5 As.
“There are a number of other pupils still to pick up their envelopes at the time of writing who achieved highly - but it would not be right to share these before they have seen their results for themselves but we are equally proud of every pupil on their achievement,” said Mr. McGovern yesterday morning.
