FORMER Pembrokeshire College lecturer, Sarah King has written and illustrated a children’s book based on her own tearaway dog, Daisy Doodle.

The picture book follows the real life adventures of Sarah’s lovable labradoodle, Daisy and her entertaining trip to the dog groomer’s in Daisy Doodle’s Dreadful Do. The first book in a planned series of six has been a roaring success with local children and adults alike.

First-time author Sarah King enthused: “My background in education has taught me that not all children engage easily or enjoy literature. Some need fast-paced short stories to hook them in, with characters that they can relate to and most children will know a canine companion!”

Daisy Doodle’s Dreadful Do is published by Matador Books and was officially launched at the Victoria Bookshop in Pembrokeshire College during May and has been selling well on Amazon. The story is available in an online format as an e-book, where readers will see Sarah’s illustrations come to life.

“I tested the book out on the children at Coastlands CP School, St. Ishmaels, and they told me that they loved Daisy and wanted to know when they could buy the book,” she said. “This really gave me the boost to find a publishing deal and I haven’t looked back!”

Signed copies of Sarah’s book will be available in Victoria Bookshop in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest.
