There was drama at Cresswell Quay on Tuesday evening when two youngsters were cut off by the incoming tide unable to cross by the stepping stones.
Colin Evans, co-licensee of the Cresselly Arms, with brother John, hailed the girls, warning them not to attempt to cross the river because the water was rising fast.
Customers watched with baited breath as Colin shouted to the girls.
The water wasn’t high enough at that point for Colin to take his boat across, and before it rose further, an heroic driver stopped his car, waded across and ferried the girls to safety where their mother was waiting for them.
Unfortunately, no-one knew the rescuer who drove away to a round of applause from the onlookers.
A beautiful evening ended happily thanks to his quick-thinking.
