Four local companies based in Narberth were involved in repairing and replacing external render, lettering and windows of the historic De Rutzen coaching house which was turned into flats in the 1980s.
Chris, of FDS Construction, oversaw the removal and repair of the front render which had become loose and cracked over time.
Chris said: "The front of the building wasn't straight and leans back, so we had to follow the original contours, which made it a more difficult, but interesting job."
Windows are being made by Carl Povey, of Bugols, of Narberth, who have invested much time designing sash windows to match the originals. Carl trained as a joiner/cabinet maker locally and continues the tradition of making hand-made kitchens, windows and doors.
A number of windows have yet to be replaced, but should be completed in the next few months.
Alan Evans oversaw the re-painting. Derek McDougall, owner of Jenkins Signs, took care of the letter refurbishment. Derek is a traditional signwriter, so this job was a little different to his normal work.
The flat owners jointly own the management company and have worked hard over the years to upgrade, repair and maintain this prestigious historic building. The front facade is the final large major project to bring the building back to its former glory.
As the entrance to Narberth from Tenby rounds the bend into Market Street, the De Rutzen will be a prominent visible feature to welcome tourists to the town.
A director of De Rutzen Ltd., said: "I am very pleased with the outcome of this work which shows that Narberth has an abundance of local craftsmen, but we also have to thank God for fantastic weather over the last month! Compared to last year, we have been extremely lucky."
