‘Tenby Shares’
Do you have a creative project underway in lockdown? Do you live or work in Tenby? (or it’s immediate surrounding villages). Community group, Artisan Avenue, want to hear about your creative endeavours. They plan to hold an exhibition of the portable pieces you’ve created, once lockdown is over. In the meantime, they have been busy sharing a lot of your creativity on social media.
Formed by Tenby artists, Anna Waters and Tom Sloan, Artisan Avenue is a ‘grass-roots’ organisation that aims to promote Tenby’s creative identity.
“Tenby has a wealth of creativity that we’d like to shout about,” said Anna Waters. “It doesn’t need to be brought to us via galleries. Creativity in any form, whether it be tapestry or baking…gardening or painting, plays a huge role in enhancing well-being. ‘Tenby Shares’ is simply an opportunity to celebrate that as a community.”
Grateful for the office space they’ve been given by Rembrandt Jewellers, Artisan Avenue have been able to get many plans underway for future projects. However, lockdown has put these ventures on hold for the time being. So with a recent rise of artistic/creative encouragement on TV and online, they are keen to discover how inspired we’ve all been: Grayson Perry’s Art Club (Channel 4) Life Drawing Live (BBC 4) along with online workshops and colouring sheets from Tenby’s own Guy Manning, are just a smattering of what’s out there!
Once restrictions ease, Artisan Avenue plan to publish further details of the forthcoming exhibition but in the meantime, you can share images of your creations to their Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/artisanavenue/ or email to: [email protected]
