A progress report on plans for improvement works to take place at Tenby harbour has been requested by a local councillor.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Laurence Blackhall told his colleagues that in light of the announcement by the deputy minister for culture, sport and tourism, Lord Elis-Thomas, that Pembrokeshire County Council will receive £128,000 to carry out improvements at Tenby Harbour, to include replacing the sluice gates, he felt that a progress report to keep the town council fully updated and to offer clarity on matters would be beneficial.

County Clr. Michael Williams, who represents the Tenby North ward, claimed last week that he and many other council officials, including Clr. Phil Baker, cabinet member for planning and infrastructure, knew nothing about the funding initiative for Tenby harbour, and how he had been chasing up council officers for reports addressing work to be carried out at the harbour area, including dredging plans.

“If we can bring a progress report back to the town council at our next meeting, to keep everyone fully updated and to clarify matters at the harbour and other issues raised, then that would be very helpful to us and the public,” commented Clr. Blackhall.
