TENBY Tudor Weekend returns to the seaside town on June 12 and 13, with talks, a guided walk, cooking, crafts, stories, and early music from La Volta.
Activities kick off with a walk and talk: ‘Jasper Tudor and the Town Walls’ with Tudor Thomas (admission £5 cash on the day). Meet outside the Premier Inn at 11am on Friday, June 12.
A Tudor cooking workshop and tasting by Heidi will take place in Augustus Place Community Hall between 1pm and 3pm on the Friday. (donations invited). Have a go at making Tudor Knot biscuits and other delights!
On Friday evening, hear early music group La Volta in concert at St Mary’s Church. Start time is 7pm and admission is £5.
The Tudor Merchant’s House will set the scene for some Tudor cooking and chat on Saturday, June 13, between 11am and 3.30pm (normal admission). Staff and volunteers will be in costume for the occasion.
Also on Saturday, St Mary’s Church will be hosting a Pembrokeshire Weavers’ demonstration (donations welcomed). That’s between 11am and 2pm, and all are welcome to pop in and see this.
Glyn and Anne will bring Tudor crafts and stories for all to Augustus Place Community Hall from midday to 2pm on the Saturday (donations). This relaxing and enjoyable evening will be a chance for young and old to try some simple Tudor crafts and hear some Tudor tales.
Next on June 13, head to Church House for a talk ‘Tudor Witchcraft’ by Dr Tabitha Stanmore (£5 entry), and/or to the Tudor Merchants House at 4pm for a talk on Tudor language by Terry John: ‘How to speak Tudor’. Admission is £4 for adults and £2 for children.
Caldey Island’s Father Gildas will round off the weekend at St Julian’s Church, Tenby Harbour with a talk about the Church in Tudor times. Starting at 6pm, the event is priced at £5 per person.
