THE 2026 Creative Competition was the final competition of the year for all members of Tenby and District Camera Club to enter. Fourteen members entered a variety of photos with excellent creativity.

Judge was Dave Russell from Cardiff Camera Club, who was constructive and comprehensive with his critique.

There were 15 print entries. The Gold medal was won by Charlie Kidd for ‘Splitting Image’; Silver by Jan Sullivan for ‘It’s Electrifying’ and Bronze by Donald Fraser for ‘Oil on Water’.

The one Highly commended award went to Rob Cox for ‘Beyond the Bloom’, with prints by Charlie Kidd, Dave Bolton, Gary Mayhew and Jan Sullivan each winning a Commended Award.

There were 28 Digital entries. The Gold medal was won by Sara Josey for ‘Refracted Solitude’; Silver medal by Cheryl Hewitt for ‘Agapanthus Wreath’ and Bronze by Jayne Crocker for ‘Light Refracted’.

Five Highly Commended awards went to Sara Josey, Rob Cox, Roy Peters, John Slater and Jan Sullivan, with Harry Gardiner, John Slater and Alan Brown winning Commended awards.

May 14 saw the Photograph of the Year Print (POTY) and Digital (DOTY).

In this special, final competition of the season, all the Gold, Silver and Bronze winning images from all the externally judged competitions are entered into the two categories Print and Digital . The Gold award given to that photograph means that image has the prestigious accolade of Print of the Year and Digital of the Year.

This important competition is of an exceptionally high standard and was therefore judged by experienced judge Ed Cloutman EFIAP Hon. FWPF.

There were 24 prints to be enjoyed from 10 photographers .

The Gold Award and the Print of the Year trophy was won by Ali Rees with ‘Walking Eyri’; Silver went to Jan Sullivan with ‘The Grey on the Moors’ and Bronze to Jan Sullivan for ‘Drink on the Wing’.

Highly Commended were Charlie Kidd, for ‘Pair of Bee eaters’, ‘Nature’s Intimacy, lesser kestrels’ and ‘Lynx on the hunt’; Jan Sullivan for ‘Food for the nest’ and Cheryl Hewitt for ‘Sanderling Synchrony’.

There were seven Commended awards which went to Jan Sullivan (3), Charlie Kidd, John Slater, Roy Peters and Dave Bolton.

There were 30 digital images to be appreciated from 14 photographers .

The Gold award and the Digital of the Year trophy was won by Jan Sullivan with ‘Dawn Crossing’; Silver Award went to Al Rees with ‘Distraction’ and Bronze to Roy Peters with ‘Where has Mommy gone?’

There were nine Highly Commended awards: Steve Howells for ‘The Climber on Arettica’, Gill Mackay for ‘The Lone Walker’, John Slater for ‘St Malo, France’, Roy Peters for ‘Navajo Outlook’, Jan Sullivan for ‘Flying through the Storm’ and ‘Hawkmoth feeding on the wing’, John Powell with ‘Mr & Mrs’ and ‘Harbinger of Spring’, and Charlie Kidd for ‘Fox Griffin Vulture confrontation’.

Jayne Crocker and John Slater picked up two Commended awards each.

The Awards Evening on May 21 was a pleasant social evening with awards, trophies, certificates and slideshows aplenty .

The Merit Trophy - for the member with the most points who didn’t gain a gold, silver or bronze award - went to Francis White.

The Ray Hine Memorial Trophy - awarded to the member with the most points from the three Open Competitions held this season - went to Jan Sullivan with 210 out of 240 points. Second was Charlie Kidd (203); third Roy Peters (202) and fourth Dave Bolton (198).

Jan Sullivan took the coveted Photographer of the Year 2026 award. In second place was Charlie Kidd, third Rob Cox and fourth was Cheryl Hewitt .

At the end of a very successful and enjoyable season, sincere thanks go to all the committee members who diligently keep the club on a firm footing. Thanks also go to members who contribute to the running of the club, for refreshments and fundraising.

Summer School has begun on June 1, run by Jan Sullivan, with enthusiastic members looking forward to learning and having fun.
