NEW Hedges WI was delighted to welcome Tony Wall, a volunteer from Community First Responders, to speak on the topic ‘Bystanders Can Be Lifesavers’.

This subject is very much in members’ minds as it is a current WI campaign. His talk was informative and entertaining, encompassing CPR and correct use of a defibrillator. His words ‘Better to do something rather than nothing’ were a great encouragement, and the New Hedges ladies now feel far better equipped to deal with such a situation should it arise.

Names were taken for two projected trips: a lunch and an afternoon tea. Treasurer Sue Hole issued information about new unavoidable charges to the group’s bank account. The raffle was drawn. Pat Hemsley won the competition, ‘A Valentine Verse’.

Visitors are always welcome - just turn up on the second Thursday of the month at 2pm, New Hedges Village Hall. Next meeting is on March 12.
