Llanteg community walking group has two walks coming up this month, one in Pembrokeshire and one in Carmarthenshire.

The first is in Pembroke, meeting by the Henry Tudor statue (W3W ///woods.stitching.cuff) on Friday, September 19, and joined by some people connected to the town.

Places are restricted to 20 for the walk, which will be kindly led by Pembroke Town Walls Trust. They don’t charge, but will be selling raffle tickets and taking donations at the end - cash or card accepted.

Recommended parking is at West Street Car Park (W3W ///unsecured.cheater.landlords), then walk around the bottom of the Castle past the millpond to end up at the statue. Walkers will partake of refreshments or lunch afterwards.

The second walk takes place at Kidwelly on Sunday, September 28, starting at 1pm. Kindly being led by Nigel Bailey, it is 3.6 miles with a long steady uphill so it will take most of two hours. The Garden Centre closes at 4pm so this will allow plenty of time to get there and enjoy tea and cakes.

This walk starts from the free Coach and Car Park, also known as the Old Slaughterhouse Car Park. The postcode is SA17 4UU. It is on the right just before the bridge into the town. There are free toilets at the junction with Station Road a couple of hundred yards from the car park.

The walk includes a long, steady uphill on a former railway line. Some of the walk is on unsurfaced paths so decent footwear is required. There’s a good place to stop about halfway for a drink or snack. Afterwards, walkers can enjoy drinks at the Mason Arms.

Car sharing is available from Llanteg village. To book either walk, comment on or message the Llanteg Community Association - Walking Group Facebook page.
