THE Annual General Meeting of Cosheston Community Council began with a question and answer session with members of the public.

Mr G Mills shared the reason for his recent resignation as Community Councillor. His statement included a complaint against another councillor. It was agreed the Clerk will share a copy of his statement for councillors to discuss and decide on a course of action.

Mr M Seal expressed the thanks of the Village Hall Trust for the liaison role Mr Mills undertook between the hall and community council.

Mr Seal also thanked the community council for the offer of financial assistance towards the village hall centenary celebrations on September 5. He explained visitors to the celebrations will need to purchase a ticket - this will ensure enough attendees to make the event viable - and if there is any profit, a refund will be made to the Community Council.

The Clerk has written to Pembrokeshire County Council’s Conservation Officer at for advice on suggestions made for the conservation area in the village, receiving an automated response. It was agreed that the Clerk will contact them again if no reply is received.

The grant application by the Village Hall Trust for heating and battery storage facilities is progressing. If successful it will provide a considerable upgrade for the hall.

Councillors unanimously supported the planning application 25/1103/PA (Dovecote Cottage, Cosheston, SA72 4UD) which involves the change of use and alteration works from two holiday lets units (C6 use class) to form one dwelling (C3 class).

Following correspondence to the Community Council, Cllr A Wilson agreed to check the latest report on the condition of play equipment against the December report to highlight any areas of concern, and to put posters on the Cosheston CC website to raise awareness of the local health authority’s free liver check sessions at Pater Hall, Pembroke Dock (May 27) and that Fire Stations can provide Safe Haven for those in need.

Despite assurances the container at the playing field would be removed, it was still on site at the time of the meeting. Mr C Morgan had written with his concerns and as a temporary measure Cllr N James used a chain and wood to provide a barricade. Councillors agreed Cllr James will continue to liaise with the person who has agreed to remove it; Cllr A Wilson will contact someone he knows who may be able to help. If neither option yields a satisfactory, speedy result, Cllr James agreed to see if the contractors putting in the new substation at the playing field in the summer can help.

It was noted that one of the downpipes at the Pavilion is leaking. Councillor James agreed to check to see if it is blocked, and also to inspect fencing posts in the overflow car park, identifying any that need replacing.

A village resident has raised concerns about the speed of vehicles on Cosheston Hill, councillors heard. It was agreed that the Clerk will contact the police to request speed monitoring cameras.
