'An absolute eyesore' is how a former Mayor of Narberth has described the entrance to the town's castle.

"The castle is supposed to be the iconic centre of the history of our town, but it is an absolute eyesore and looks like the entrance to a tip," Clr. Mrs. Sue Rees told her fellow councillors at Tuesday night's monthly meeting of the town council.

Signage needed improving, the gateway needed tidying, the hedge trimming and the entrance accentuated, she said.

As a result, the council is to contact Pembrokeshire County Council about their concerns.

Meanwhile, Clr. David Norcross agreed to make inquiries about resiting the castle flag so it can be seen from the town.
