The first main event and the most important prior to Civic Week 2011 took place on Tuesday evening at the Rugby Club in Narberth.
This, of course, was the selection of the Carnival Queen and her attendants.
There was a fantastic turnout for this year's selection, with a wide range of ages for all the categories.
Over 20 entrants arrived to put themselves forward for their respective categories, which were those of the Carnival Queen, Fairy Queen and Page Boys.
Not only was there a great amount of entrants, but also a fabulous turnout of friends and family to offer support. Possibly one of the best turnouts Civic Week has seen in recent years.
The judging was carried out by the Mayor and consort of Neyland, Mrs. Margaret and Terry Brace. They certainly had a tough decision on their hands in all categories, with Margaret commenting: "We have never done this type of event before, but I can certainly say it has been extremely difficult, so thank you to you all turning out to enter."
The tough decisions were finally brought to a conclusion with the results being: Page Boys - Lewis Evans and Rhys Brenchley; Fairy Queen - Ceria Wood and attendants - Mali Owen and Alexandra Phillips; Carnival Queen - Lowri Morgan, and attendants - Danielle Watts and Isis Cashmore.
Photographs can be purchased through Civic Week and details on this will be published soon on the Civic Week website (http://www.narberthcivicweek.co.uk">www.narberthcivicweek.co.uk ) for those entrants interested.
The Civic Week committee would also like to pass on their thanks to Narberth Rugby Club, as always, for their hospitality and help to put the evening on and extend their thanks to Event Management Services UK for supplying the photographer.
