Members of Tenby’s ‘Jubilee Play and Skate Park Association’ will be launching their quest for funding to upgrade the facility at next week’s carnival in Tenby.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown told her colleagues that the youngsters had now sourced sponsorship of T-Shirts to wear when they enter the annual Tenby Firefighters Carnival on Wednesday.

“Twenty two of skate park committee will be entering the carnival on their scooters, with some of the older kids on their boards, which will act as a launch for the children’s fundraising appeals,” she said.

The ‘Jubilee Play and Skate Park Association’ committee has been formed to move forward with plans to extend the skateboard park overlooking the South Beach, with somewhere in the region of £130,000 funding required to enhance and extend the facility.

The town clerk Andrew Davies told members that concept drawings to enlarge the skatepark area would likely see the entire facility completely remodelled.
