At the latest meeting of the Narberth Forum, the question was asked as to how many people could remember the school playground being used by the community?

The Tenby, Narberth and Whitland Observer has often reported on various activities held on the Town Moor and school playground with such an active community spirit as is shown in Narberth - who can forget the Children's Festival, Summer Carnival, sports  activities and the Annual Plant Sale held in May?

However, the Forum needs further information or proof from individuals to gather a dossier on its use since the '60s. This is to strengthen their argument that the playground, as it is no longer required by the education department, should remain in the Narberth community's control and not sold off to a commercial venture.

"This area was originally village green and as such should return to the community as it is no longer required for the school children who attend the Narberth primary and junior school," David Norcross, the chair of Narberth Forum told the Observer.

"However, without facts and information we can put to Pembrokeshire County Council in support of this request, this land could be sold to the highest bidder without taking into account Narberth's views."

So the request goes out if you have anything, particularly photos or flyers advertising events that required use of the playground, then please let the Observer, the vice-chair, Ivan Wilson, at Celtic Vision, Narberth, or the secretary have any details that you may have or can recall."
