With voters going to the polls next week for the local county council and town and community elections, we thought it appropriate that this week’s Blast from the Past should feature a picture of a council from yesteryear. It’s of the former South Pembrokeshire District Council, which now no longer exists, having been dissolved in 1996 to make way for the re-establishment of Pembrokeshire County Council. There are many familiar faces amongst the councillors - sadly many of them no longer with us - but at least one (Michael Williams, of Tenby) is still going strong at County Hall, another (William Rees) is hoping to return to local government as he is fighting a seat in Pembroke Dock, while only earlier this month, Eric Feetham, of Narberth, announced that he was standing down after nearly 50 years as a councillor.
