Sir,

May I through your newspaper offer apologies to the sports men and women who may have witnessed raw sewage running onto the village road during the spectacular Ironman event. Also I hope that the disgusting smell in the same area did not upset anybody.

We residents have been trying to deal with the issue for over a week but, regrettably, the alleged offender would not even admit culpability let alone do anything to remedy the problem. This is not the first time there has been leakage of raw sewage from this same location and has been witnessed by a number of individuals, and professional bodies like Welsh Water who sampled and tested the leak.

Oddly the alleged offenders actually stated that the spillage was from a pipe near the road and not from their property; this pipe is connected to their sewage system and was installed by the alleged offenders ?

We residents have been in contact with as many local authority personnel as we could think of, but unfortunately failed to get a favourable response, even to the extent of the (I believe this was their title) environmental officer believing the alleged offenders rather than the witnesses? Why they think people would make up such a story is beyond me, especially as this has happened before.

Lastly, I would like to say how sorry I feel for all the residents who give their all to maintain a beautiful and highly presentable village, a real shame for our village if the abiding memory of visitors is the dreadful stink and disgusting outfall.
