Among matters discussed at this month's meeting of Amroth Community Council were the following:

Outstanding issues to be addressed

Road sinking once more on Amroth Hill by the 30mph signs - the problem with the hill in Amroth was a Welsh Water concern.

Dangerous trees at Stepaside - highways would cut back the trees by the end of month.

Footpath FP1/7 - this was overgrown and the style was broken which needed replacing as people were walking on resident's land. To follow up.

Electric speed warning sides at the exit and entrance into Llanteg on the A477 from the new bypass - Trunk Road Agency had been contacted in relation to this, and also the PCC officer, regarding the repositioning of speed signs in the village.

County Councillor's Report

Clr. Brinsden reported the latest news from in Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC), including the departure of the chief executive. PCC had applied for a grant from Welsh Government to substantially improve the whole of the sea wall for Amroth. If the grant is obtained, the work would go ahead. The road from Amroth to Llanteg had been resurfaced. A request for road improvement to the section from the top of Trelessey road to Summer Brook had been made.

Llanteg Community Association

A councillor had been contacted by two people who were very concerned about crossing the main road twice a day to get to the school bus. An email outlining the issues has been prepared. The clerk would contact Richard Jones, head of SW Trunk Road Agency.

Amroth and District Community Association

It had been another good season. A new carpet was laid on October 1. The playing field was now completed and had been very well received. Low vegetation had been cut by Clr. G. Jones - so the field was visible. It was hoped an opening ceremony will be arranged soon.

Planning

Installation of Openreach broadband cabinet - St. Georges, Summerhill, Amroth (approval granted subject to conditions); 19 Waters Edge, Amroth - single storey extension (approval granted); Blaencilgoed Quarry, Ludchurch - variation of consent (incorporation of gritstone) (approval granted); Bramble Lodge, Stepaside - change of use granny flat to holiday accommodation (approval granted); 1 Morgans Way, Summerhill - retain use of existing converted garage as family annex (no objection); The Cedars, Amroth - loft conversion of detached bungalow etc (no objection); Little Craig y Borion, Llanteg - restoration of existing farmhouse as volunteer accommodation etc (no objection); Temple Bar Amroth - moving LPG tanks 20m and enclose in compound (no objection); construction of rock armour, foreshore at Amroth (no objection); 8 Summerhill Stepaside - erection of rear single storey extension and garage, two storey to front (no objection).

Correspondence

Ironman consultation - it was agreed the clerk would feedback the council's lack of support for the closure of so many roads in Pembrokeshire on the same day and that the Ironman event has had a negative effect on businesses in the community council area on what would normally be a very busy weekend in September for trade.

Letter from Solva Community Council about youth service provision - it was agreed the clerk would write a letter of support to Solva Community council in their efforts to retain youth services.

Other Matters

Concern was expressed over the appearance of Grongar, Summerhill Park - clerk to contact PCC to see if they could do anything about it.

Dangerous section of road at Cambrian Cross - very dark on a bend and large width of vegetation (on National Trust land), the hidden sever drop by the road on the way down to Colby Lodge.

There was a report of a couple of the gullies on the old Amroth road being blocked. The council were currently checking them.

There was a discussion over the number of signs by Crofty Nursery and the erection of very large agricultural buildings at Three Wells, Tavernspite.
