Among matters discussed at a recent meeting of Amroth Community Council were the following outstanding:
Back of garages at Somerset House, double gates and opaque glass in storage shed - Clr. Brinsden was seeking advice on this and as yet there was no action.
The steps on seafront in Amroth need to be painted white in time for season - this was never done and there were several complaints from visitors about falling over the steps. A letter was to go to PCC.
Fly tipping by Pen-y Bont on the old A477, 100 yards from the new A477 road junction - it was reported that there was a lot of garden refuse there, but it seemed that heavy duty goods had not been dumped for some time. The situation must now be carefully monitored.
Sign for free parking by toilets opposite the Templebar to encourage visitors to use the car park and not park in front of the village amenities and risk getting a parking ticket - this had still not been done. Another email was to go to PCC on this.
Stepaside sign - this had not been done. A further reminder was to be sent to PCC.
Water dripping at the Triangle, Pleasant Valley - this had now been done and the item could come off the agenda.
No fouling sign on footpath 10/11 at Llanteg - this had now been done and the item could come off the agenda.
Knotweed at Parish Hall, Summerhill - the weed was sprayed a few weeks previously. PCC were to come and cut it back, but this has not yet been done. It would be chased up.
Branches overhanging road between Summerhill and Meadow House - council was still awaiting news on this.
Coast path sculpture - it would appear, that despite being advised last year that planning permission was not required, it has now been requested. A letter has been sent to National Park regarding this matter and seeking a meeting with them to see what was intended. Council was still awaiting a reply. A further letter would be sent.
County Councillor's Report
Clr. Brinsden was not in attendance at the meeting. He asked that the following information be given to council:
The rendering on the inside walls (or what was left of them) at the Mountain Chapel is falling off, probably due to ingress of water through the top of the walls as they were not sealed or capped. A local councillor will investigate this, have a word with Clr. Brinsden and make a decision as to the best way forward.
Llanteg Community Association
October 29 - walk from Blackpool Mill led by the ranger, 2-4 pm. A walk around Bosheston was planned for February 2012. The Christmas service, together with the village hall, would be held on either the first or second Sunday in December. An information board had been placed in the school garden which was an excellent addition to the garden and some gates would be put at the entrance to the clay pits.
Amroth and District Community Association
The enhancement project had started outside the toilets in Amroth. Youth activities had a very successful evening when a representative came along from the donations group of the Co-op to see the youth activities club in action. They were very impressed with what was going on and how much use was made of this excellent facility. The church cheese and wine evening was also a big success raising a good amount of money for church funds. The hall was being well-used for children's parties, as well as a variety of other activities. Broadband would be in the hall very shortly and this will be very useful for the computer classes. November 12, the M74 band will be playing in the hall, while on December 8, there will be an Elton John tribute evening.
Planning
Plot 17, Clos Yr Ysgol, Stepaside, - erection of Dwelling (no objection); Elrose Cottage, Stepaside - erection of garage (permission granted); The Mead Amroth - conversion of double garage to dwelling (no objection); Coombs Head Bungalow, Amroth - new garage/workshop (no objection); Longstone Manse, Ludchurch - erection of dwelling (no objection); Hill Crest, Llanteg - alterations and extension (permission granted); extend existing car park - Amroth village (no objection).
The Old Stores Amroth - a lot of concern has been voiced regarding the height of the structure. National Park were also concerned. It was suggested that a letter went to National Park from the community council to state the concern. The original planning was that it would be not exceed the height of Coed Mor - the adjacent property. A letter would be sent.
Correspondence
Petition from Suffolk Local Council for more communication regarding planning applications - Amroth Community Council supported this petition.
Other
Matters
It was reported that there was a pothole in the middle of the road outside Meadow House. There was also a recurrence of the potholes in the entrance to the council houses in Summerhill. Outside number 10 on this road, there was a large dip which needed addressing. There was a broken stile on footpath 1/6 at the White Leys end. There was a post missing at the Old Post Office in Stepaside allowing the owners to park on the pavement. Cars were still parking at the Stepaside Inn. The staggered junction sign on the grass verge outside Church View was too low and hence caused an obstruction. It would be helpful if this could be addressed to avoid an accident. All these issues were to be reported to PCC.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 20, at Amroth Parish Hall, Summerhill.
