Firefighters from Narberth and Haverfordwest were on the scene near Bluestone on Wednesday after a light aircraft’s emergency landing.

The Haverfordwest Airport-based FlyWales flying school aircraft had made the controlled landing at Broomhill Farm, Minwear Woods, shortly before 12 noon, as a precaution after encountering engine difficulties, with pilot-instructor Dan Hughes making the manoeuvre.

No damage was caused to the plane, and both the pilot and passenger were uninjured.

FlyWales Head of Training Gwyndaf Williams said: “The instructor decided to make a precautionary landing because the engine was running a bit rough, rather than risk flying back to the airfield with the possibility of the engine cutting out it if it was more serious, we elected to land there. He landed in a nice big field, landing perfectly okay.”

County Councillor Di Clements, who owns Broomhill Farm, praised the skill of the pilot for safely landing the plane.

“I take my hat off to the pilot for landing safely. The plane is in good order, he did a good job to land it as well as he did and keep everyone safe.”
