This was one of the dramatic looking photographs captured on camera by local freelance photographer Gareth Davies on Sunday when Tenby RNLI carried out their last exercise with Sea King 169 from RAF Chivenor. The exercise, however, only lasted 30 minutes as the helicopter received an urgent call and had to leave immediately, but before flying off on its mission, the pilot had to drop off the three lifeboat crew who were on board. The quickest way to do this was at the lifeboat slip where the pilot very impressively and skilfully returned the trio safely. From October, the search and rescue service is to move to a new base at St. Athan in South Wales as part of a £1.6 billion national contract awarded to American firm Bristow who will be working on behalf of HM Coastguard.
