A pensioner from Saundersfoot will appear at Swansea Crown Court next month after pleading guilty to charges of being in possession of indecent images of children.
Seventy-five-year-old Michael Gouldingay, of Scandinavia Heights, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to admit to charges of being in possession of 27 category A images, 22 category B images and 16 category C images of children, between the dates of March 1, 2014 and April 30, 2016.
Prosecutor Mr. Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told magistrates that a search warrant had been executed at Mr. Gouldingay’s home in June of last year, where police officers seized computers, laptops and memory sticks, after they had received information that the defendant may be in possession of indecent images.
“The items were sent to the high-tech crime unit at the police headquarters in Carmarthen, and a number of images were found,” Mr. Pritchard-Jones told the court.
“This case is not suitable for summary trial, ” he added. “We are not just talking about one category A image being found, but a number of videos were recovered too.”
Defence solicitor Mr. Mark Layton told magistrates that his client was of previous clean character.
The case was committed to Swansea Crown Court for sentencing on April 28, with magistrates informing the defendant that having been convicted of a sexual offence, he was now required to attend a police station to tell them within three days, giving his name, date of birth, and address.
Mr. Gouldingay was released on unconditional bail.
