A Saundersfoot man found in possession of drugs at a Tenby hotel has been fined in court.
Twenty-seven-year-old Corri Broadhurst, of Incline Way, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to charges of possessing four tablets of the Class A drug MDMA, and 44.28g of cannabis.
Prosecutor Abul Hussain told the court that police officers attended a hotel along the Croft in Tenby on March after receiving reports that there was a smell of cannabis emanating from one of the premises’ rooms.
“Mr. Broadhurst was present with two other males, and a rucksack which was on the floor near to where he was sitting was searched by officers, and the MDMA was discovered inside.
“The cannabis was found in tupperware. Mr. Broadhurst made full admissions in a police interview and admitted that the drugs were his and that he intended to smoke the cannabis. He has previous drugs convictions for offences in 2008 and 2012,” he added.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that it was a simple case of possession, with Mr. Broadhurst admitting to taking them recreationally.
“The defendant’s mobile phone was checked by police, and there was no suggestion that the drugs were not for his own personal use,” he said.
Magistrates fined him £270 for the cannabis possession and £180 for the MDMA.
Mr. Broadhurst was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
