A Pembroke teenager is back in jail after she breached a suspended prison sentence by going shoplifting and refusing to obey court orders.
Elisha Callen, aged 18, of St. Martins Road, Monkton, had been jailed for 14 months suspended for 18 months on December 21 for stabbing her then boyfriend, Daniel Farilie, in his thigh with a knife.
She was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of community work and to complete 35 days of rehabilitation activities.
But she completed only nine hours and failed to turn up to appointments with her probation officer.
And on January 26 she went shoplifting in Haverfordwest and stole £57 worth of underwear and cosmetics.
Callen admitted the breaches and the theft.
James Hartson, her barrister, told Swansea Crown Court she had spent three months in custody awaiting the sentence and on her release had decided to ‘party’ rather than engage with the orders.
Judge Geraint Walters said he had hoped to find a reason not to activate the suspended sentence, but Callen had shown no real interest in complying with the court orders.
And there was no reason to believe she would engage with the probation service in the future.
Judge Walters said he found the situation to be sad, but Callen was not yet ready to be helped.
He warned Callen she risked spending more and more time in prison.
Judge Walters activated the 14-month sentence.
