Police have stated that there are ‘no suspicious circumstances’ to a ‘stranger danger’ claim involving a report of a man approaching a child in a shop in Tenby.
A post on social media by a mother over the weekend alleged that her five-year-old son had been approached in a ‘well known store’ in Tenby on Saturday October 26, at 11.15 by an unknown male offering him sweets, trying to encourage the boy to trust him.
The mother said as she had warned her son along with her other children about ‘stranger danger’ her child refused the sweets and went quickly to her husband and explained what had happened.
She went onto say that she received a phone call from the store the next day to say they had called the police, who would collect the CCTV footage for evidence.
A statement from Dyfed Powys Police issued this week said: “Police have been made aware of concerns of a man approaching a child in a shop in Tenby following a post on social media.
“Enquiries have been carried out, including a review of CCTV footage, and officers are satisfied there were no suspicious circumstances.
“The child’s family has been updated to this effect.”
