A Milford Haven woman who was caught with nearly £900 worth of cannabis in her vehicle has been fined in court.

Forty-year-old Joanna Louise John of Howarth Close appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to admit the offence of possessing a class B drug.

Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that the police conducted a routine stop check in Burton on February 21.

Officers could smell cannabis in the car and searched the vehicle where £890 worth of drugs was discovered.

She made a full admission when interviewed to say that the drugs were for her personal use.

The court heard that Ms. John had a previous drugs conviction in 2008 for a supply matter.

Defence solicitor Katy Hanson told the court that her client not been trouble for 12 years, but had issues with alcohol.

She added that she had been taking cannabis to help with problems and was also using it to assist with her medical conditions.

Ms. Hanson added that the defendant knew that possessing cannabis was illegal and knew she shouldn’t have had it.

Magistrates fined the defendant £80 and she was ordered to pay costs of £85 along with a victim surcharge of £32.

A destruction order was also made for the drugs.
