THE Angle RNLI Lifeboat crew was recently tasked to investigate a distress beacon activation from a local fishing vessel, which was found to be a false alarm.

At 10:47am in the morning, the crew of Angle RNLI Lifeboat were paged following the activation of a distress beacon from a local fishing vessel.

The vessel was in the Dale Roads area, so Dale Coastguard Rescue Team was also tasked to investigate the EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon).

However, as the crew were preparing to launch, investigations by the Coastguard and contact from the vessel’s skipper confirmed that it had been an accidental activation.

With nobody confirmed to be in difficulty, the launch was subsequently cancelled.
