A Milford man who told police officers that he wanted to ‘fight them’ has pleaded guilty in court to being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
Twenty-two-year-old Callum Salisbury, of Robert Street, admitted the charge when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard Jones told the court that the incident occurred at Hamilton Terrace on Saturday, June 10.
“Mr. Salisbury rang the police himself at around 11 pm, and told them that he was drunk and intended to harm himself.
“When officers arrived at the scene, they found the defendant stumbling along Hamilton Terrace and at one point he almost fell into the road,” continued Mr. Pritchard Jones.
The court heard how Mr. Salisbury told police officers that he was ‘really angry’ and that he wanted to ‘fight’ them before taking up a fighting stance.
“He was of no threat to the police as he was so drunk, and they told him that they were there to try to help him, but Mr. Salisbury went onto tell officers ‘I’ll eat my own face’ and made a cutting gesture across his throat, and eventually he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly,” added Mr. Pritchard Jones, who told the court that the defendant had three previous convictions for shoplifting, and three cautions for arson, but no record for anything similar to the latest charge.
The defendant’s defence solicitor told the court that Mr. Salisbury had been to a house party that night in his own words was ‘hammered’.
Magistrates told Mr. Salisbury that his behaviour was ‘not acceptable’ before fining him £120 for the offence and ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
