A man from Swansea with a ‘myriad’ of convictions who was arrested for being aggressive outside a nightclub in Tenby has been charged in court with drugs possession.
Forty-one-year-old Marc Petryszyn, of Townhill, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to possessing 0.35 grammes of cannabis.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that the defendant had been arrested outside the Prince of Wales premises on Upper Frog Street, on April 8, after police had been called to reports of a male acting aggressively.
“Police officers stopped at the hotel where Mr. Petryszyn was staying in the town, and went inside to collect medication belonging to him, but noticed cannabis on the bedside table of his room,” she explained.
No further action was taken on the other matters, but at the police station, officers informed the defendant of the cannabis discovery, and he responded by saying ‘yes, I know, it’s mine’.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that his client suffered from PTSD which affected his mental health, and he smoked cannabis infrequently to combat this.
“He wasn’t carrying the cannabis around with him and it was a very small amount.
“In the past he has had a myriad of sentences, but none for drugs matters,” explained Mr. Webb.
Magistrates gave Mr. Petryszyn a six month conditional discharge for the offence, and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
