A man who had to be assisted by police officers from falling out of his van has admitted a drink-driving offence.
Twenty-six-year-old Dale Evans, of Ferndale, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to driving whilst over the prescribed limit.
The offence took place in Tenby on September 21.
Prosecutor, Sian Vaughan told the court that after 9 pm on the day in question, police were contacted by a member of the public who had seen the defendant staggering before jumping into a van.
The vehicle was tracked down by officers after the number plate was passed on to Dyfed-Powys Police.
Police found the van on Narberth Road where they had to prevent the defendant from falling out of his vehicle.
Magistrates also heard that Mr. Evans, who gave a breath test reading of 93 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, had to be assisted by officers, before being arrested.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher said his client accepted the facts of what had happened.
He also told the court that Mr. Evans was extremely remorseful because the incident not just affected him, but his family.
Mr. Kelleher said his client’s future was uncertain as he could no longer do the job he once did.
Mr. Evans was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs. He was also ordered to pay £32 as a victim surcharge and was banned from driving for 23 months.
