A Monkton woman who failed to comply with the requirements of a community order has been fined in court.
Thirty-seven-year-old, Claire Brunton, of Colley Court, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Monday (February 3) to admit the offence.
Ms. Brunton was brought before the court after she failed to attend office appointments on November 22, 2019, and January 3, 2020.
She also failed to provide acceptable evidence to explain her absence for missing the appointments.
Ms. Brunton, who was representing herself, told magistrates that she had split up with her husband in November and there had been a lot of domestic abuse since.
As a result, the defendant said she hadn’t been out as much.
Before the bench retired to decide sentencing, the chairman warned Ms. Brunton that non-compliance of court orders can lead to jail.
During the hearing, it was disclosed that the defendant had a lot of outstanding fines owed to the court.
Before sentencing, the chairmen of the bench said: “You haven’t been helping yourself. There isn’t an excuse for non-compliance.”
Magistrates fined the defendant £40 and she was also ordered to pay costs of £50 to the probation service.
