Birthday celebrations turned sour on the streets of Tenby after a man in a pink cowboy hat aimed a pistol at passers-by.
Twenty-five-year-old Robbie Warwick, of Heol Frank, Penlan, Swansea, pleaded guilty to affray when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday, February 26.
The court heard that Warwick, was out celebrating a friend’s birthday in Tenby on June 30, when a member of his group squirted two passers-by with a plastic water pistol while wearing a pink cowboy hat.
One of the men took umbrage at being squirted and went to remonstrate with the group. He was punched and pushed in the chest by Warwick, who kicked him after he ended up on the floor.
CCTV of the incident was played to the bench, and the court heard that Warwick, a plasterer, was wearing flip-flops when he made contact with the man, who had not made a statement.
Warwick made full admissions when interviewed adding: “I have done completely wrong.”
Julian Davies of the probation service said Warwick had consumed a ‘fair amount of alcohol’ on the day in question.
He added: “He does appear to be really remorseful for his part. He says he feels gutted for the whole event and really regrets what happened.”
Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work. Warwick was ordered to pay £170 in costs and a surcharge.
