Police in Tenby are working with Pembrokeshire County Council to try and tackle ongoing issues with youngsters riding mopeds in the area causing anti-social behaviour.

A holidaymaker staying at Kiln Park contacted the Observer last week to give his account of the behaviour he had witnessed by several moped riders using the Salterns car park, which is run by PCC, as a ‘race track’.

“The Salterns car park in Tenby has become a regular place for lads on mopeds and scooters to race around,” said Brian Evans, of Merthy Tydfil, who decided to video the behaviour and contact the police about the matter, but said he was then subjected to abuse by the youngsters.

“The lads approached me wanting to know what my problem was. I explained I was on holiday and the noise they were making racing around was disturbing the holidaymakers in Kiln Park,” he continued.

“Six of them with helmets on gathered around me swearing and I was told I should go and have my holidays somewhere else! I had also reported the noise to the police the night before.”

A spokeperson for Tenby Neighbourhood Policing Team said that they were aware of the ongoing issues with mopeds in the area, and are currently planning an operation to prevent this.

Pembrokeshire County Council also confirmed that they had been made aware of ‘incidents’ at The Salterns and are liaising with the police.
