Home to Priskilly Forest: We are on a good run of victories, the most recent being good wins against Newport and Haverfordwest. Captain John must have been very confident in welcoming Priskilly to Trefloyne in the hope of another win.

Leading off for Trefloyne, John Voysey with Gareth Roberts recorded a comfortable 3 & 2 win. This was bettered by far as Mike Allen with partner Keith Hubbard won 9 & 7. Brinley Hughes and Dave Crowley had a more interesting match, finishing all square at the end of their eighteen holes. Phil Rees and Ian Whiting found their opponents in good form, losing 2 down. Another comfortable win was recorded by John Richards and Graham Longster who saw off their opponents 8 & 6. Colin Rowe with Rob Nixon combined well to score a 3 & 1 win, and final pair, Derek Jones and Wayne Connett came home with a 4 & 3 win.

Another win in the bag by 5 ½ to 1 ½ , away to Machynys next.

Away to Machynys

Hopes were high for a continuation of our good form when we headed for the game at Machynys, however for some players it was a bit of a nightmare in more ways than one. Due to the accident at Cross Hands, some players were caught up in the traffic jam, Phil Rees especially, stuck for hours, never made it to play.

Partner Graham Harrison arrived late, found he had no partner and went home. Meanwhile, Mike Allen travelling with Bob Forrest were also in the jam, but were notified by phone and managed to turn around and arrived just in time, however, they may have wished they hadn’t bothered.

John Voysey with Brinley Hughes led the way, they played the front nine quite well but fell away on the back nine to lose 4 & 2. Next off were Pat Casement and Alun Williams. This was a close game with Pat and Alun standing on the eighteenth tee all square, unfortunately, both of our boys found the bottom of the lake with their tee shots, thereby giving their opponents a comfortable 1 up win.

In a reshuffle due to the traffic problems, Derek Jones moved up to join Meurig Evans, they obviously gelled as they recorded a 3 &1 win. Following behind were Jack Zeraschi with Dennis Holloway, these two struggled against an in form pair who had recently won the South Wales seniors claret jug at St Pierre, losing 5 & 4.

Late arrivals Mike Allen and Bob Forrest might have wished they never turned up as neither got going, losing 7 & 5. Dave Crowley and John Hammond kept things close but eventually lost 2 down and Steve Jones with Colin Rowe struggled against their opponents, losing 4 & 3.

The end of a good winning run saw us lose 6 to 1. Hopefully home form will continue against Glyn Abbey next.

Home to Glyn Abbey.

After losing badly at Machynys, captain John exhorted his troops to pull their fingers out and get their act together. However, injured pride and the comfort of playing at home may have had more of an effect on the results.

Leading off were Pat Casement and Alun Williams, in a game where no quarter was given, Pat and Alun ran out winners by 4 & 3. In a more laid back game, Meurig Evans with Brinley Hughes also won 4 & 3. Winning 4 & 3 seemed to be the order of the day as captain John with Graham Longster posted the same score.

Dave Allen with Trevor Lewis couldn’t keep the run going, in a close fought match they came in with a half. Dennis Holloway with John Hammond finally got on top of their opponents winning 2 up. Mike Allen now over his Machynys horror show, paired up with Derek Jones to post another 4 & 3 win. Phil Rees now out of the traffic jam, paired up with John Richards to post a 5 & 3 win, while bringing up the rear, Bob Forrest with Jack Zeraschi won 5 & 4.

Back on track with a 6 ½ to ½ win, Machynys home next week!
