Although the dry spell has come to an end, it hasn’t disrupted the golf too much, however, as you will see the high scoring from the start of the month hasn’t been repeated.

The next competition to report on was the Jubilee Threes on Thursday the 18th. This is a draw for partners with the best two scores on each hole counting. Playing with different partners, plus the format, is always well received by all. Some steady golf was played by the teams with the top three places being filled- in reverse order- by Nesta Hart, Dinah Reed and Pam Cole on 70 points, lady captain Linda Thomas, Anna Hubbard and Helen Hughes on 72 points, with Rita Collins, Bev Owen and Judy Brew coming out on top with a fine 74 points.

Sunday the 21st saw another drawn competition - this time for the Sunday Salver, which was donated by past lady captain Ann Marsden to bring together the two ‘sections’ - those who generally play on a Thursday and those who usually have work commitments and who play on a Sunday. Eighteen took part on a pleasant day, but scoring was difficult. Third place on countback with 33 points was Pam Cole, just pipped by Anna Hubbard. Sue Shooter was the clear winner on 36 points - and got a one shot cut. Unfortunately, Ann Marsden was unable to present the salver to the winner this year so president Pat Fox did the honours and the photo shows (from left to right) Pat, Anna and Sue. Pam is behind the camera!

The Senior Ladies returned to the course on Monday the 22nd, having been rained off the previous week. The top two this week were Anne Wilks with 22 points over 14 holes and Vena Davies just behind on 21 points.

Thursday the 25th saw an 18 hole stableford. It was a decent day weather-wise, but points were hard to come by as only six of the 23 managed 30 or more. Angela Gottwaltz pipped Liz Storey on countback to claim third place with 32 points, one behind Pam Cole in second, who in turn was one behind the winner Sue Ensor on 34 points. Sue seemed to be a winning name that week!

Bank Holiday Monday (the 29th) saw a depleted number of Senior Ladies playing due to other cup matches and family holiday commitments. Four Ladies mixed things up a bit and decided to play Greensome Foursomes. Rita Collins and Marion Clarke just had the edge (I hear) over Pat Fox and Bev Owen, but the change in format was enjoyable.

Good luck to Denise Edwards, Pam Cole, Rebecca Naden and Helen Hughes when they travel to Pontardawe on Monday, June 5, to represent Tenby in the regional final of the GUW Medal and LGU Silver and Bronze Challenge Bowls.
