A busy bank holiday Monday saw over 70 golfers turnout for the annual Beynon Family Scramble. The sun made an appearance as local farmer Mark Duckett appeared with his 12 bore and set the field in motion.

The family scramble, now in its 10th year, is organised by the Beynons to thank the members for their continued support and, with all monies paid out in prize money, always attracts a large field. This year was no different, with a range of ages, teams and abilities taking to the course.

Considering the recent wet August, the course was in fantastic condition, with the greens running well, having been trimmed earlier in the day.

Following play, everyone congregated on the terrace for food, kindly provided by the Beynon family. Club captain Robin Lloyd was on hand to thank the competitors, the green staff for the beautiful condition of the course, and Kim and Joan for their support. Results were as follows.

Winning team: Gavin Scotcher, John Broomhead, Simon Rossiter, Dean Bowen nett 56.5; runners-up - Adam Thomas, Billy Truman, Harrison Duckett, Ellis Morgan nett 56.8.

Longest drive: Gents - Billy Truman; ladies - Heather Thorne.

Nearest the pin: Gents - Martin Blizzard (1.89m); ladies - Beth McMann (2.5m).

All entries paid out in prizes, plus £65 donation to junior fund.
