In 2014 we were asked to have a friendly mixed match between Tenby and St. Pierre. Each year we have tried to keep the same people (not always successfully due to other commitments). Each year we have been really lucky with the weather.
However, this year our luck ran out, and it rained all afternoon. Even so, since St. Pierre had travelled all this way for the match, some even staying overnight in the Dormy rooms, it was decided that we would carry on.
Seven of the eight pairs went out to do battle, not only against the weather, but also playing a greensomes matchplay competition. Suffice it to say that for the first time Tenby were victorious, but in the spirit of the event no scores were mentioned.
Lady captain, Irene Gilman, welcomed the visiting team, also thanking the catering staff under Lee for a superb meal, and Heather for organising the event with Mike Smith from St. Pierre. Mike promised to put next year’s date on the fixture calendar as soon as he could so that we could be sure it continues to thrive.
